Privacy
What happens to your data.
Last updated 23 August 2026.
This site has no accounts and no logins. It does have a contact form on the home page and the services page. What follows is everything that happens to your data when you visit.
Who is responsible
Allan Valm, Tallinn, Estonia. Write to allan@valm.pro or call +372 5198 9999.
Analytics, only if you agree
Nothing is measured until you choose. On your first visit you are asked whether analytics cookies are acceptable. If you decline, or if you ignore the question, no analytics cookie is set and no measurement data is collected.
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_BVV1R9P01P, and records:
- which pages you viewed and when
- how you arrived, for example from a search engine or a link
- your browser, device type and screen size
- an approximate location at city level, derived from your IP address
- a randomly generated identifier held in the cookie
Google derives the location and then discards the IP address rather than storing it. The data is processed by Google Ireland Limited, with transfers to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. It is deleted after the retention period configured in Google Analytics, which is at most fourteen months.
Legal basis: your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time using the Cookies link in the footer of the home page.
Google Tag Manager is used to load these tags. It sets no cookies of its own.
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub records each request in its server logs, including the IP address it came from, to keep the service running and secure. This happens whatever your cookie choice, because it is part of delivering the page to you. GitHub, Inc. is based in the United States and participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating the site securely, under Article 6(1)(f).
Fonts
The typeface is served from this site. No request goes to Google Fonts or any other third party, so your IP address is never shared for that purpose.
If you contact me
The contact form on the home page and the services page asks for your name, your email address and your message. When you submit it, two emails are sent through this site's own mail server: one to me at allan@valm.pro, and one back to you confirming your message was received. Your email address is used as the reply-to on the message I receive, so I can answer you directly. Nothing is stored in a database: the only record kept is the email itself in the mailbox it was delivered to.
I keep your message and contact details for as long as we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards, so I can pick up the thread later. You are not added to any mailing list. The buttons on this site also list a phone number and a LinkedIn profile, and choosing the email option there opens your own email program with the subject line filled in.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in replying to you, or preparation of a contract if we go on to work together.
What is not here
No advertising and no remarketing. No tracking pixels. No profiling and no automated decisions about you. Nothing sold or shared with advertisers.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of any personal data I hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how it is used, or to send it on to someone else. You can object to anything processed on the basis of legitimate interest. You can withdraw analytics consent whenever you like.
Write to allan@valm.pro. You will usually have an answer within a few days, and within one month at the latest, which is the limit the GDPR sets.
If you are not satisfied with how I handle it, you can complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate, Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, at info@aki.ee or aki.ee.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
